Why remove a stump?
An old stump is more than an eyesore. It can send up new shoots, attract fungi and pests, trip people up and get in the way of mowing, landscaping and building work. Grinding it out solves all of that.
How stump grinding works
We use a powerful stump grinder to chip the stump and main roots away to below ground level. It's quick, tidy and far less disruptive than digging a stump out. Afterwards the hole can be backfilled with the grindings or with topsoil, ready for turf, planting or paving.
- Stumps of all sizes
- Single stumps or whole-site clearances
- Prevents regrowth and removes trip hazards
- Can be combined with a tree removal for one visit
Frequently asked questions
How deep do you grind the stump?
We grind the stump down below ground level, deep enough to lay turf or plant over the area. If you need it deeper — for example for a footing or paving — just tell us when we quote.
Can you grind a stump in a back garden with narrow access?
In most cases, yes. Tell us roughly how wide your side access or gate is when you get in touch and we'll bring the right machine.
What happens to the grindings?
We can use them to backfill the hole, or remove them and leave the area ready for topsoil and turf — whichever you prefer.
